Pet Bloggers Can Get Traditional Media Coverage

BlogPaws has been immersed in the media and we encourage all pet bloggers to embrace media and reach out to get coverage, eyes, and best of all—traffic—for your blog.
I recently taped a segment of Pet Talk with Lauren Collier on News12 Connecticut, which aired several times recently on television. According to hostess Lauren Collier, viewership is about 400,000 people. The focus of the BlogPaws segment “New Year, New Pet, New Products.” You can view the segment below in case you missed it. These are types of opportunities I learned about and then spoke about at all four BlogPaws conferences I’ve attended. Double fun: My dog, Dexter, goes on set with me.

BlogPaws is also on television with Who Let The Dogs Out on the Hallmark Channel. Did you see the first episode that aired on February 1st?

Dexter and I attended the World’s Most Expensive Dog Wedding in New York City last year on behalf of BlogPaws. The event was hosted by Wendy Diamond (our 2012 celebrity Nose-to-Nose awards hostess) and all done in the name of charity. It was at this event that I had the idea for a fun fundraiser featuring my dog, Dexter, and his girlfriend Zoe. Well now, the Cake Boss has gone to the dogs, too!
While there, The Cake Boss rolled out their intricate edible artwork, and I was able to get some close-up footage of the cake. The episode aired February 4th on TLC (The Learning Channel).

  1. The OC Register newspaper in SoCal named my cat blog a “Blog We Dig” and it was so listed on their blog for 2 yrs. until they did a re-design and refocus.
    The Naval Gazing Blog of The OC Weekly spread the word about a particular blog post on my cat blog they found interesting, as have other well known blogs who came across us.
    I’ve shared cat blog posts to sites like Instapundit and Michelle Malkin, and been promoted.
    With my other blogs pieces I’ve written were discovered by the people written about, who then commented, corresponded, and even spread the word.
    Once I was invited to an event, and interacted with some of the legendary folks the event was about, who then, when my blog post about the event was up, helped spread the word around, which surprised and honored me greatly.
    I have given a couple of presentations and the people who invited me, and I met in the audience, spread the word.
    I am new in Houston, TX. and while I’ve written to the local pet beat reporters for the major paper, in response to a story, I’ve yet to get responses.
    In the meantime I’ve attended the recent Cat Show in town and am blogging about it. Once done I plan to reach out to those whose info and cards I picked up.
    I have a special T-shirt, and even a badge, I frequently wear in public, to promote the cat blog, keeping a handful of my card handy, and often have interactions that way, but unless someone leaves a comment there is no way to know if they ever visit the blog.
    There is so much you can do, even if, like me you can’t spend a lot, or are no technical expert.
    You never know where it might lead you.
