Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop: Lost Pet Prevention Month

Each week, BlogPaws celebrates with a networking opportunity called the Wordless Wednesday blog hop. There is no greater concern for a pet parent (other than serious health issues) then to have their beloved pet(s) go missing. Though the Fourth of July holiday has come and gone, the fireworks and loud sounds in the sky continue in many areas. One of the themes for the month of July in the pet industry is National Lost Pet Prevention Month.

Lorien Clemens, Director of Marketing & Municipal Programs at PetHub, who founded the themed month, says that pets are outside more and travel plans are in full swing, so the potential for pets to go missing spikes in July and August.

With that, here are some expert tips on how to prevent your pet from being a statistic and going missing:

Bonus: Prevent stolen pets: Never leave your dog in an unattended car, even if it’s locked – Besides the obvious health risks this poses to the dog, it’s also an invitation for thieves, even if you are gone for only a moment. Leaving expensive items in the car such as a GPS unit or laptop will only encourage break-ins and possibly allow the dog to escape, even if the thieves don’t decide to steal it too.
