BlogPaws’ Daily News Bite: Update Dachshund Will Not Return Home

We’d reported earlier in the week the story of Otto the 13-year-old Dachshund who was left at a shelter by his senior owners who could no longer care for him.

Recent updates to the story, as reported on Pet360 indicate that Otto will not be returning to his family after all. The story goes as follows:  The couple (Otto’s owners) have decided not to reclaim their dog as a foster family for Leave No Paws Behind, the rescue that saved him. At this time, they will not even plan a reunion to visit Otto.

The decision to not return the dog was mutual between the rescue and couple. “They are traveling ministries and the travel would not be good for Otto in his frail condition. That decision was in no way related to the online controversy that’s erupted, but the decision to delay a reunion with them was,” according to Toby Wisneski, founder of Leave No Paws Behind.
