Jumpstart And Maximize Your Blogging Time

Guest post by Blog Manager Robbi Hess

You're likely still going through your goodie bags from BlogPaws 2012 and every business card you Picture1 collected, right? Well, don't let the dust settle on your good intentions from the event. Whether your plan was to connect and interact with like minded pet lovers, jump start a blog, begin making money with the blog you already have, or whatever your particular reasons, don't lose your momentum.

It's so easy to get caught up in the excitement of a conference and set plans and goals for yourself that you'll implement, "once you get back home." Sometimes, though once you get back home, life gets in the way and your good intentions fall to the wayside. I know. I've been there!

No matter what your plan was/is for your blogging or other way to share your love of all things pet, here are a few ways to maximize your time. You don't want to set aside time for blogging, for example, then watch the precious moments tick away while you struggle to come up with an idea.

Let's see if these tips help you maximize your time and enhance your productivity:

  • Get organized before you sit in front of your computer. Make certain your desk is orderly and if you've cut out articles to use as jumpstarts for ideas (for example) make sure you can find them when you need them! If you use your computer to gather your ideas, make sure you know where you filed them.
  • Make a schedule. If you work outside of the house and are juggling work and family, it may be hard to find time for your own projects. When you schedule your day, make certain you schedule a date for yourself in your calendar. If you don't make space for yourself, your pet projects will never see the light of day.
  • Use a timer. Hold yourself accountable. If you know you only have 15 minutes to work on your project, set a timer and let the ticking help you get busy.
  • Hold yourself accountable. No, you don't want to consider yourself a failure just because you didn't get your blog writing done today. Make sure you move that to the top of your to-do list tomorrow and get to work on your own projects.

What were your plans once your left BlogPaws 2012 (well, other than to register for BlogPaws 2013!)? What are you doing to make your dreams come true?
